Ivory Bride

I am sure that I will get a lot of different opinions once this article is published because whenever it comes to weddings and “baraats” in particular, all we can think of is "RED". A bridal outfit in red, or even if it's not the bridal dress, the color red always comes to our minds and we get carried away like most of our upcoming brides. All they can think of is getting their bridal outfits in reds and maroons. After all the “red jora” is a dream since childhood and then an expectation of all the relatives and friends!
But I do know some daredevils who just want to make a statement and tell the whole world that they can look fabulous even in something that is not even close to red. The color I am talking about is ivory white. I am sure some of you must be having heart attacks while thinking of a winter bride wearing ivory.
I won't blame you as even I found it hard to digest when my best friend told me that she had decided to wear an ivory outfit on her wedding day. I tried my best to discourage her, but later when I saw the dress I instantly fell in love with it and started thinking what sort of makeup I'd do with that dress. Trust me, when it comes to making a statement and looking different anything is possible; it could be an ivory outfit on the wedding day or no dopatta on the bride's head. Every thing works when someone has decided to look different!
It's very hard to educate even the literate class that it's not written anywhere that they have to have a red outfit on the main day or a yellow one on mehndi for that matter. To tell you the truth I'd prefer it if a bride wore a red dress on mehndi as she won't be wearing a lot of makeup that day. She can easily get away with a bright red out fit and a pale makeup like kajal in the eyes and a lip-gloss. Even the yellow chrysanthemum jewelry goes really well with the color red. So why not look different on the wedding when the whole attention is on the stage. I am sure most of us agree that bright colors are a worn out fashion and once in a while it's pleasant looking at a bold bride in any color apart from red and maroon.

I thought that words won't be enough and some visuals to go with the article were needed. So, I requested a very close friend, Saniya, who's a former model and never turns down my request to do a shoot for me, to once again do me a favor and let me give her a make over in an ivory outfit by SKR and beautiful jewelry in emeralds and lapis. Another interesting thing if you are wearing ivory is that you can wear any stone with it and eventually get your makeup done according to those stones in the jewelry. It looks very dramatic and also serves the purpose of getting your makeup done in the desired shade, as some times we love wearing blue makeup but don't like to wear blue outfits or likewise we like wearing red lipstick but don't want to wear a red outfit to match with the lips! For that we can have an ivory outfit with ruby and kundan in jewelry and enjoy a vibrant red lipstick to go with it.
There are many ways of avoiding certain shades and utilizing the others, but most of the time we don't like to consult anyone due to an ego problem or sometimes because we don't want others to take credit in the end. But I think in the end it's you who is looking beautiful and no matter who tries taking credit, you are the center of attraction admired by others for looking fabulous.
As I mentioned earlier Saniya was wearing emeralds and lapis, so I gave her gold and emerald eyes with smoky edges, a very pale peach gold lip shade and nice fleshy peachy pink cheeks and trust me I didn't needed any admirer as I started drooling over the colors myself. You all must be thinking that Sakib is so full of himself, but jokes apart there are some moments that I literally drool over colors and it was one of those moments. So I hope most of you must have changed your minds already and I request the rest to give it a thought that looking like a bride shouldn't be the motto of a bride; looking beautiful should be your concern and the rest you leave to your stylist - as we know how to pamper our clients. I wish you all an amazing wedding day!
