It was standing room only at Maranatha House when a parade of wedding and debut dresses took place on Saturday November 27. Many of the wedding dresses on parade belonged to the residents, including Mona Harvey, Dot Cooke, Lorna Mostyn, Edith Cashel and Joyce Hollow. Maranatha staff also supplied their own wedding and debut dresses for the parade and the models were escorted by Jeff Travers. Board member Rae Batho said the residents got a bit emotional when they saw their dresses. “It was a lovely day for the residents, being able to see their dresses being worn again,” Mrs Batho said.

“Dorothy and Neil Blake from the Oxley Museum came up to talk about a few things with the residents, including how to preserve aged clothing.”Mrs Batho said she would like to thank activity officers Yvonne Everett and Muriel Edwards for the many hours they spent organising the parade. Mrs Everett said she would like to return the thanks to those who helped and participated in the parade.
