Gorgeous gowns and big cash prizes

Gorgeous gowns and big cash prizesOn top of the 400 dresses in stock at any given time, Lindgren’s Bridal and Boutique is bringing in three additional lines. For one week only, the New Sudbury shop will have all the gowns from Ella, Essence of Australia and Sophia Tolli’s spring line in stock.

By having the entire collection in stock, Jennifer Prudden, co-owner of Lindgren’s, said girls will have the chance to try on gowns that the shop wouldn’t typically bring in, either because they’re too “couture” or “specific” to a select few tastes.

“What girls are looking for is so eclectic now,” Lisa MacDonald, co-owner, said. “Because the dress is such a reflection of (their) personality, and because there are no rules, girls can wear what they want to wear, and what represents them best.”

Prudden and MacDonald agreed that by bringing in every dress made by the three companies, there will be something for every bride, whether they are looking for a traditional princess gown or something with a more modern, sleek silhouette.

“It’s nice that girls can finally wear a gown that’s reflective of who and what they want to represent that day,” MacDonald said. If brides-to-be are overwhelmed by the number of gowns at the shop, they can take a sneak peak at a number of the new styles at the Caruso Club on Jan. 7.

Models will pose in various gowns from 7 to 9 p.m., but unlike a traditional fashion show, girls can closely inspect their favourite styles, since the models will be standing still.

“You have the opportunity now to actually go and view the dress,” Prudden said. “You can get up close and personal, and ask questions about them. You’ll get to see it again and again, and you can even request (to see it again).”

Prudden said the gowns will also be decked out with different accessories made by LMC Couture Accessories.
In order for brides to get the most out of the show, Prudden said it’s important for them to arrive with an open mind. She said many girls end up picking dresses nothing like the styles they had originally been attracted to when they began shopping.

Lindgren’s will also have bridesmaid gowns and mother-of-the-bride apparel on display. Tip Top Tailors will display menswear at the show. Booths from the shows other sponsors, Herbal Magic and Flower Towne, will be set up too.

Along with the fashion show, other bridal vendors will also have booths set up at the Sudbury Bridal Extravaganza. If that’s not enough incentive for brides, the main prize certainly is. One bride-to-be will walk away with $10,000.

For every guest girls bring, they will have another chance at scoring the cash prize. Doors to the show open at 4:30 p.m., and vendors will be set up until 10:30 p.m. Tickets to the show cost $20, and can be purchased at Lindgren’s, Charm Plus and the Caruso Club. The show is hosted by the same organization that brought Randy Fenoli, of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, to town in September.
