I like attending weddings where the bride and groom adhere to their cultural traditions, when these traditions fall outside of mainstream culture.
This isn't always the case; some couples stick to whatever mainstream society dictates, whether to blend in or fully adopt their country's ways.
So when Chinese-American Lisa Ling married Paul Song and she wore the traditional Chinese wedding dress color, red, I thought it was a great choice.
Ling's strapless silk dress was designed by Vivienne Tam and the wedding party stuck to an "Asian chic" theme.
Red is traditionally seen as a lucky color in Chinese culture. I think Lisa looked incredible in this dress; I love this a lot more than if she'd worn the typical long white gown.
Not only does she look spectacular in it, her wedding day revolved around an important part of her cultural upbringing.
