MARRIAGE seminars took centre stage at the Bride and Groom Expo on Friday. Guests flocked Katonga Hall at Hotel Africana in Kampala, where Mama Tendo Foundation counsellors examined the marriage institution. The three-day exhibition was the second wedding expo by Bride And Groom, a publication of the Vision Group.
During the parenting and sexual intimacy seminar, Elizabeth Masaba, a counsellor, captivated the audience as she took them through behaviour that has broken marriages. She noted that many marriages are built on flimsy and selfish interests.
Masaba also said people get into marriage only for the good times. “You are not going to leave your husband because of sickness. Don’t insist on money, get in real love.”
She also admonished young couples who employ househelps as soon as they get married and parents who let their housegirls mother their children.
Masaba cited lack of intimacy as another issue that was killing relationships.
She said some people have a phobia for each other’s bodies and prefer consumating their marriages in darkness.
“You need to enjoy your spouse’s body,” Masaba said.
She also lashed out at men who do
not take time to arouse their spouses.
Masaba expressed concern at the attitude of men and women to their in-laws.
Other issues discussed were family planning, beauty and hair care as well as choosing service providers for the wedding day.
There were also exhibitions of bridal clothes and services, fashion shows, free hair styling, pedicure and manicure and head massage.
